ANASA Joins the European Dialogue on Eating Disorders Is this conversation helpful so far?

ANASA participated in the European dialogue on Eating Disorders through the webinar “Eating Disorders: Towards Stronger EU Action,” organised online by SAFE – Safe Food Advocacy Europe on 23 September 2026.

The meeting brought together 68 representatives of organisations, experts and professionals from across the European Union and the United Kingdom, focusing on prevention, treatment and the need for stronger, more coordinated European action on Eating Disorders.

ANASA was represented by Androniki Roza Stathopoulou, Psychologist and Scientific Director of the ANASA Day Centre, who presented the work of the organisation and its specialised Day Centre in Greece, which provides support to children, adolescents and adults affected by Eating Disorders.

During her presentation, she highlighted ANASA’s multidisciplinary model of care, which combines psychiatric assessment, medical monitoring, psychotherapy, nutritional counselling and family support. She also presented ANASA’s awareness and educational initiatives within schools and the wider community, aimed at prevention, early recognition of symptoms and reducing the stigma surrounding Eating Disorders.

She also outlined five key priorities for addressing Eating Disorders: strengthening data collection and prevalence research; improving the training of professionals working in specialised public services, with particular emphasis on the care of younger children; promoting early detection through schools and primary healthcare; developing more multidisciplinary Day Centres; and expanding geographical access to specialised services.

ANASA’s participation in this European discussion provided another valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, while highlighting the ongoing needs in the prevention, early intervention and access to specialised care for people affected by Eating Disorders.
